It is so easy to forget to take care of ourselves in today’s hustle and bustle. But it is one of the most important things to do. There is a quote that I like and really spoke to me: “You can’t fill a cup out of an empty jug”. I would love to give credit here to whoever coined this quotation but after Googling, I have to say there is so many variations on this quote that it is difficult to say who to give credit to so I will just say kudos to the person that had this revelation.
But if you take the time to really read the sentence and really think about it:
“You can’t fill a cup out of an empty jug” …… Unknown
The thing that we forget is we have so many responsibilities and so many people that need us and rely on us. If we don’t take the time to take care of ourselves, we will not be able to take care of them or what we need to. When was the last time you allowed yourself to rest or sleep? Do you care for yourself like you do someone you love? Thank you, School of Life, for that quotation. Do you listen to yourself the way you listen to someone that needs you? Do you realize that you are depended on yourself for care like someone you care for? All this and more are things we need to think of. You can maybe take a few moments and ask yourself these questions. Please take a moment right now and just ponder these questions.
Do you care for yourself the way you care for your loved ones?
Do you listen to yourself the way you listen to your loved ones?
Do you meet the needs you have of yourself the way you meet the needs of those that you care for?
Do you realize that you depend on yourself for care?
Yes, I know that we have people in our lives that care for us as well and that is our support system but think of this they are also where you are. Are they taking care of themselves? Then the quote comes up again
“You can’t fill a cup from an empty jug”
So, for you for them for all of us if we don’t take care of ourselves how do we care for others? Are your loved ones only getting the little bit that you have left in your jug? how much more affective, loving and caring we can be in our lives if we take care of ourselves?
I would love to see what a wonderful life this will be if everyone is cared for and loved. Just imagine the possibilities. The role model you will be for your children or the ones that you care for.
Let us be the change we want to see in the world.
It starts with you and me and each of us individually.
Have a wonderful day and remember you are awesome
